Rotator Cuff Tendonitis Massage Treatment
(RCT) is a common problem with the shoulder.
There are four tendons of the rotator cuff which control the shoulder rotation.
They can become inflamed restricting movement and causing pain. RCT is caused by micro tears in the tendons caused by strain, overuse or instability. Most common causes include constant wear and tear on the shoulder joint.
Also muscle imbalances, poor biomechanics, previous shoulder injury and lack of flexibility can cause RCT. Other problems can be caused by training errors such as inadequate warm-ups or excessive use of the shoulder.
Injuries like RCT need to be treated by massage health professionals to help prevent further damage. If you are experiencing signs or symptoms including pain in the upper arm or shoulder, heat and swelling around the shoulder or a decreased ROM and strength you could benefit by talking with the Massage Therapists at Rainbow Bay Massage and we can advise you on what to do next. This will help help you overcome your pain. Without special treatment, some people can experience pain from 1 month to 2 years. This can be aggravated by a variety of movements including reaching above your head, lifting heavy objects or even just lying on your shoulder.
We can provide a number of treatment options to get the full range of motion (ROM) and strength back in your shoulder. More importantly we can help prevent the problem from reoccurring.
If you are experiencing some of these symptoms above, call us at Rainbow Bay Massage and let our Musculoskeletal Therapists assess your problem and show you the path to recovery.
